The Horticap Summer Cocktail Party was a huge hit with guests, staff, volunteers, trustees, and students alike! DJ Chris was manning the decks and cranking out some fab, old-school vibes for around 80 people. Mixologist Rob from Eller’s Farm Distillery created a Horticap cocktail, as well a thirst-quenching mocktail. Rob Hutchinson kept everyone entertained and perplexed with his fantastic array of close magic. A few students were on hand to help draw the Grand Raffle prize winning tickets. The games proved popular (winners got a bottle of gin).

One of the highlights of the event was Chef Chris Walsh’s canapes. He provided a scrumptious selection of roast beef in mini Yorkshire puddings, felafel on humous, smoked salmon on cream cheese, retro-yet-on-trend nibbles on sticks, and mini tarts. He and his staff worked hard to ensure everyone had plenty to eat.

It was super to see so many past and present trustees, including current Chair Peter Hornby. One of the grand raffle’s generous donors, HRH Hotel Group‘s Managing Director, Simon Cotton came along with wife Lyndsey. Our incredible fundraising committee were also on hand, to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude for all their hard work: Alison, Ali, Caroline, Elaine and Liz.

Although perhaps not as warm as usual for a July evening, the forecast rain held off and the ambiance was convivial, making it a wonderful social event to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
