ssale With the coronavirus situation becoming more serious, Horticap is continuing to implement government advice in order to keep Students, Volunteers, and Staff who work at the nursery safe and healthy.

Currently, in line with local authority advice, our students have not returned to work.  We all look forward to the time when it will be safe for them to resume thier attendance and Horticap will again be lit up with their laughter and individual personalities.

Our nursery is open 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday but as is sadly inevitable, our tea room is closed until further notice which has resulted in a significant loss of income along with the cancellation of the Spring Flower Show and Great Yorkshire Show both of which were important fundraising events for Horticap. Our new building project, which had to be suspended at the start of the pandemic, is now nearing completion and we should be able to welcome customers to our new shop from November.  We also hope to be able to open a limited tea room opening prior to Christmas; keep an eye on our website.

This situation has had a huge impact on the way we work but our overriding aim must be to ensure that Horticap is in the best possible position to continue to help our Students when the crisis subsides.

Everyone at Horticap is immensely grateful for the many messages of support received over recent months and we will continue to keep you updated as best we can on all things Horticap. We will do this through regular messages and updates on our website and through our social media activity.

The Christmas period is a vital time for Horticap, with the of Christmas trees, wreaths and gifts generating income to tide us over the coming months of January and February.  Unfortunately, with the uncertainties and covid secure trading guidance we will not be able to offer our ususal Christmas tree selection service at the nursery, instead we will be offering an on-line order and delivery service.  The shop however, will be open for wreaths and gifts.

Please see our on-line ordering page.

Many of you have asked how you can continue to support us through these difficult times and the simplest way to do this, but only if you are able, is by making a donation.

You can do this in a number of ways including:

  • Sending a cheque, made payable to Horticap, directly to us at Bluecoat Wood Nurseries, Otley Road, Harrogate, HG3 1QL.
  • Online through the secure Horticap Just Giving page which can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/horticap
  • By calling us on 01423 522876 to arrange to make a credit card donation or set up a regular donation via your bank.  Please note that we may have to call you back to make a credit card donation.

And remember, UK tax payers can use Gift Aid to boost any donations without any cost to themselves.

Your continued support for Horticap is very much appreciated and any donations will be used to benefit our Students and to ensure that Horticap remains at the centre of the community for many years to come as it has done for the last 35 years.

Thank you from everyone at Horticap
