We’re proud about the achievements of our students and staff,

here’s what we’ve been up to recently…

Horticap was very pleased to win the Harrogate Chamber of Trade & Commerce Trophy at the Harrogate in Bloom Awards held at 63rd & 1st. A great time was had by all!

Horticap was at the Great Yorkshire Show from 12th to 15th July with an Edible Garden themed display. We were very happy to be awarded with a Silver Gilt Medal! Many people found our display enlightening, because they didn’t realise so many flowers were edible.

We were absolutely over the moon that Hopkins won the Harrogate Hospitality & Tourism Award for Best Newcomer of the Year 2022! Chris Walsh and the team have worked so hard to create such a popular food destination! None of it would have been possible without the generous legacy from former student Peter Hopkins.

At the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, Horticap’s ‘The Three Little Pigs’ exhibit won three out of five Yorkshire roses. Visitors loved the fact that the stone house, built by Living Stone Dry Stone Walling FOC, is being auctioned off to raise funds! The house sale is being handled by Lister Haigh. In the Flower Hall, Horticap’s plant stand did well over the four days.

Phil Airey and Steve Scarre had the honour to chat with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, when they visited the Horticap Stand at The Great Yorkshire Show 2021.

The Duchess admired our display and was particularly taken with our own Charles and Camilla mice. It was an exciting experience for Phil and Steve.

We were thrilled to win a Premier Gold Award for our community-themed display at the 2021 Spring Essentials Flower Show.

Despite the pandemic, it was still a well-attended and enjoyable event.
