A Himalayan Garden in Yorkshire presented by Trevor Nicholson

Talk by Trevor Nicholson award winning Head Gardener at Harewood House on the re-development of the Himalayan Garden. The Himalayan Garden is situated in a small valley below the dam at the western end of the Lake at Harewood. It is a redevelopment of a smaller, original garden, which was created by HRH Princess Mary and her husband, the 6th Earl of Harewood, in the 1930’s. The rock garden, which they had built has been restored and replanted. New paths, including a bridge have been incorporated and the area has been planted with an extensive collection of Chinese and Himalayan plants. The defining feature of the new Himalayan Garden is the Harewood Stupa, an authentic Buddhist monument built in 2004. This cross-cultural project brought together Yorkshire craftsmen and Buddhist monks from the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Ceremonial events accompanied the building works, all of which were supervised by Lama Sonam Chopel, Bhutan’s master Stupa-builder. Grand Mid-Summer Garden Party

Another great event to celebrate our 25th birthday. On June 26th there will be a Grand Garden Party in Horticap's garden. The garden will be at it's spectacular best, there will be music and entertainment, an auction and refreshments. Tickets for this will cost £15 and will be on sale from early April.
